History
Krisch's
was originally founded in 1920 in Bayridge, Brooklyn. In the
late 1920s, Krisch's closed due to the depression. However,
in the mid 1930s the store re-opened in Hollis, Queens (right).
It remained there until 1955 when it was moved to its' current
home in Massapequa where we quickly became known as...
" The Meeting and Eating Spot of Massapequa"
Today,
Krisch's has maintained that original 1950s atmosphere.
Inside the store you will find old fashioned soda
fountains,
a 10-stool counter, and
a selection for everyone from the 8 year old down
the block, to the couple that has been coming here
for the last 40 years. Such stars as Alec Baldwin,
Kim Basinger, Tom Cruise, Steve Guttenberg, and Jerry
Seinfeld, to name just a few, have been here to try
many of our homemade dishes.
Our appetizing menu has something for everyone! We serve breakfast for
the morning commuter (we are located right by the Massapequa train station),
lunch for the local area businesses (a great time to try one of our famous
burgers or homemade quiches), and dinner for the local residents.
However, Krisch's clientele is not limited to just those in
the Massapequa community! People from all over come to Krisch's
to enjoy our menu, particularly our famous homemade ice cream.
So why not stop by and check us out, we promise you'll be glad
you did!
Wilbur
Selfrige ("Papa Web") pictured below, had been making
the ice cream here since 1955 until his retirement.
His endless hours in the ice cream kitchen have led to the
best ice cream ANYWHERE!
